Best Sponsored Walk Yet!

In the woods at Burnham Beeches. Smudge’s ears just showing!

Burnham Beeches turned out to be the perfect venue for our 2017 sponsored walk, with great parking, a good cafe and toilets, and beautiful surroundings – even the weather was good. We just needed the walkers, and this year we had 31 people, plus Smudge the dog, which broke all records! The 9 mile walk went in three loops, each loop coming back to the cafe area, and so some people were able to join us for the morning and some for the afternoon, and support as they were able. Small people could leave at lunch time too, so it worked for everyone.

The first two loops took in different parts of the woods, and we were able to enjoy the huge beech trees which make

this wood famous. The third, longer loop headed out to Littleworth Common and took us across fields through different surroundings until we reached an old inn, tucked away down a tiny lane. After more refreshments, we made our way back into Burnham Beeches and enjoyed a last wander through the woods arriving back at the picnic area for the cream tea that we had been promised!

Everyone agreed that this had been a lovely walk and so it looks as if Burnham Beeches will be our venue for next year. We haven’t counted the money yet but should have nearly £1000 for the work of NLT.

Many, many thanks to all who walked and contributed.

Finishing in style with a cream tea!
