Update on the Kathmandu Office – April 2013
Many of you will be aware of the road widening activity taking place in Kathmandu, and its threat to our office building in Satdobato, south of the Ring Road near Lalitpur. It seems that the plans to widen our road are going forward, although the authorities have agreed to a narrower format than originally planned. This means that only the front 8 feet of our office needs to be chopped off!
As you can see from the picture, the wall in front of the building has now been demolished, and a contractor is to be engaged to take off the front of the building and rebuild a new front following the new building line at what will be the pavement edge. It also seems that there is some space behind the building that will allow a slight expansion backwards which will help a bit with space, although the office will still finish up a lot smaller than before.
The alterations will probably cost at least £15,000 so please consider helping our building fund by donating for this purpose. Do please pray for our staff and the work of the office during this difficult time while they have to relocate and still carry on all the office and workshop activities.
