NLT Headquarters Building – Funding Needed

Many of you will be aware that our headquarters building in Kathmandu has been under threat of demolition for some time, due to the government intention to significantly widen the road adjacent to the building. In November last year, we knocked down the front wall as a first step but were still waiting for confirmation of the demolition line, etc. Now some nearby businesses and houses have been demolished and so the outcome seems inevitable. As a further step, the team at Kathmandu have built a new workshop on top of the NLT guest house next door, and have now begun to extend the existing building backwards.

leave it still usable for some of NLT’s work. The huge challenge now is funding this work. The government provided some compensation which will pay for the demolition and the bulk of the resulting repairs needed on the front of the building, but the extension at the back will cost about £23,500. We have started a fund for this and have about £2,000 in hand so far.  However, this work has already begun, hoping that the money comes, as without the extension the rest of the building after demolition will be unstable. If anyone would like to contribute to this financial need, it would be hugely appreciated.
