Surgery at Lalgadh
The resident doctors, (such as Dr Krishna Lama – our Deputy Director and reconstructive surgeon) hold a weekly surgery day which includes major surgery but also procedures such as the debriding of ulcers (A procedure to remove debris or infected/dead tissue from a wound) or cleaning and dressing wounds.
Every year, Donald Sammut makes an annual visit to Lalgadh hospital. He spends a few weeks performing hand surgery for people with various hand problems. This is top level surgery, provided to people with no resources in a remote area of Nepal, and gives them hope for a better future.
Our resident doctors are very grateful to Donald Sammut for allh is help and for his teaching them new ways of doing the various operations.operations
